Global Economic Symposium 4.72

The Global Economic Symposium (GES) aims to provide a new collaborative setting to analyze the world’s most important economic problems, create shared visions of the future and formulate innovative strategies to achieve these visions. The GES thereby seeks to be a catalyst for future change.
In particular, the GES seeks to initiate a strategic dialogue on global economic affairs for leading policy makers, business executives, academics and other representatives of civil communities. Such a dialogue is needed as a response to the challenges of an increasingly interdependent world. Policy making and business decisions need to take into account the changing policy and business environment. The GES provides a forum to think globally about global problems. The GES aims to build communities to come up with practical solutions that contribute to the global public interest.
The Symposium will be held annually. While the core participants will be leaders in academia, business, politics and civic organizations, promising young members of these communities will be invited as well.

The GES has some features in common with important existing events, in that it is

Global: It focuses on global problems from a global perspective, drawing on an international community.

Economic: It addresses economic problems, concerned with the allocation and distribution of resources.

Interdisciplinary: It brings together policy-making, business, academic and civic communities in a focused, interactive setting to relate their specific concerns to pressing global issues and thereby advance the global public interest.

International: It attracts participants from around the globe, in order to provide a global perspective and compare divergent solutions to global problems.



What distinguishes the GES is that it is

Action-Oriented: Its central question is "What is to be done?" It aims to formulate and review policy and business strategies for addressing global problems.

Research-Based: Its sessions are all supported by state-of-the-art research and its outcomes are meant to generate new research agendas.

Interactive: The stakeholders of the GES interact in the Virtual GES (the GES’s internet platform) before and after the Symposium, as leverage to the exchange of ideas during the event.
