Your transportation and guide will be waiting for you just outside the ship to get you going on your fun day. The guide will give you information, history and stories about Cartagena, the culture and the people.

Your first stop will be at the top of Cerro de la Popa where you will have a 360 degree view of the whole city of Cartagena and countryside surrounding it. Then you will head to San Felipe Fort that was designated as a World Heritage Site. This historic fort helped protect the city from invaders and pirates who were after the treasures the Spanish had plundered and stashed away in Cartagena.

You will also see some traditional neighborhoods including the famous Getsemani area. This is where the slave quarters used to live and now the most traditional neighborhood in Cartagena full of locals. The Old City, as this area is also known as, has narrow streets and open plazas. You will also stop at Plaza Santo Domingo to view the famous sculpture by Fernando Botero, La Gordita.

On the must see list is your next stop at the Gold Museum where you will see the many pieces on display dating back to the pre-Colombian culture. There are numerous pieces of jewelry, pottery and lithic stone.

You will have time to take a walk through Old Town and stop to try some famous Colombian coffee, shop for hand crafted items, leather good, antiques or maybe even a Colombian Emerald! Your guide will deliver you back to the cruise pier after your excursion is completed.
