En el centro de Punta Arenas está una de las construcciones más antiguas de toda la Patagonia, la centenaria mansión de Don José Nogueira y Doña Sara Braun, dos personajes que “escribieron” la historia de la Patagonia En 1890, ordenaron la construcción de una espléndida mansión en plena plaza de Punta Arenas, la que se transformó en uno de los símbolos más destacados de la ciudad. En 1982 fue declarada Monumento Nacional.

Right in the middle of downtown is located one of the oldest buildings of the entire Patagonia, the centenary old mansion formerly owned by José Nogueira and Sara Braun, two characters who “wrote” the history of Patagonia. In 1890, they ordered the construction of a splendid mansion in front of the main square of the city, which, with the passing of time, transformed into one of the symbols of the city. In 1982 it was declared national monument.

En 1992 parte del Palacio Sara Braun fue habilitado como un pequeño y exclusivo hotel.
El Hotel José Nogueira dispone de 22 habitaciones, incluyendo cinco suites finamente decoradas y con todas las comodidades y servicios de un gran hotel.
Para no modificar la estructura del edificio, se adaptaron los espacios disponibles y no todas las habitaciones son exactamente iguales a las otras, pero cada una de ellas con una personalidad y características propias y todas de alto nivel de calidad. In 1992 part of the Sara Braun Palace was authorized as a small and exclusive hotel.
The Hotel Jose Nogueira has 22 rooms, including 5 finely decorated suites with all the accommodations and services of a great hotel.
In order to preserve the structure of the building, only the available spaces were adapted and not all the rooms are exactly alike, but each one of them has their own personality and characteristics, and of course of a high level. This particularity of the hotel is extended over all its guests, receiving each one of them a very distinct and personalized attention. Far from the standardization that actually involves us.

El restaurante del Hotel José Nogueira dispone de dos comedores y del Jardín de Invierno o “Pérgola”. Los dos primeros conservan el mobiliario, lámparas y cortinajes originales de la mansión y en la Pérgola se puede cenar disfrutando los largos días del verano, con luz natural hasta las 11 pm. Se requiere reserva.
The José Nogueira Hotel has two dining rooms and the Winter Garden or Pergola dining room. The first two contain the original furniture, lamps and courtains of the mansion and in the Pergola you can dine enjoying the long summer days, with day light until 11 pm. Reservation is required.

Shackleton‘s Bar & coffee
La antesala a una inolvidable experiencia. Shackleton ´s Bar & Coffee del Hotel José Nogueira, un lugar para quienes saben apreciar una variada carta de tragos y snacks en una centenario salón.
En agosto de 1914, Sir Ernest Shackleton zarpó a bordo del Endurance rumbo al Atlántico Sur, con el propósito de realizar el primer viaje transantártico a pie. Luego de cruzar el mar de Weddell y a sólo sesenta kilómetros quedó atrapado en el hielo.
Shackleton, junto a otros cinco hombres, en un pequeño bote, partió en busca de ayuda en abril de 1916. Luego de sortear el tormentoso mar de Drake, logró conseguir a fines de agosto, que su tripulación fuera rescatada por el escampavía Yelcho de la Armada de Chile, al mando de Piloto Luis Pardo, con quienes llegaron triunfantes a Punta Arenas el 3 de septiembre de 1916. La osadía, valentía y liderazgo de Shackleton y su inolvidable odisea, inspiran el ambiente de nuestro bar, decorado con una colección de acuarelas que rememora la epopeya de Shackleton en estas tierras.

In August 1914, Sir Ernest Shackleton set out on board of the Endurandce heading for the South Atlantic with the purpose of making his first transantartic trip on foot. After crossing the Weddell Sea, only sixty kms from his destination the Endurance became trapped in the ice. Shackleton, along with five other men, in a small boat, set off in search for help in April 1916. Having crossed the storm-ridden Drake Sea, his crew was rescued by a Chilean Navy vessel, Yelcho, captained by Luis Pardo, with whom they arrived safely in Punta Arenas on the 3rd of September 1916. Shackleton’s bravery, leadership and his unforgettable adventure, inspired the environment of our bar, decorated with a collection of watercolor paintings that remind us of Shackleton´s odyssey in this land.
