Dave and I have surrounded ourselves with dogs of all shapes and sizes for going on 14 years now. I started my career in pet food with Pet Necessities, a natural food retailer for dogs specializing in the raw food diet. Dog and cat nutrition quickly became an obsession as I delved into research and took courses focusing on pet food and nutrition.

Pet Necessities amalgamated with a doggie daycare/hiking company called Paws In Motion and this began a journey that would direct the course of my life. Working with Paws In Motion was my first taste of the hands on dog daycare/hiking world. I was hooked right away and began taking classes on anything dog related: training and behavior modification with Custom Canine, Dominion Herbal Collage with a focus on natural nutrition for dogs and cats, I got certified in Pet First Aid and went to any and every pet centered seminar offered.

Looking to diversify Paws In Motion wanted to rent out some space, as our office was huge. We sublet a room to a dog walking company called For The Love of Dogs (now Dog City Services). They were looking to expand their team and I suggested they hire Dave, my husband. He was a great fit and worked with them for 10 straight years, loving every second of it! Over the years Dave had the opportunity to work alongside wonderful trainers and behaviorists – people often come to him for training advice and dogs just seem to gravitate towards him.

After leaving Paws In Motion, I became the manager of Dog City Services and LOVED working with Dave and the rest of the team. I worked with them through an ownership change and garnering a daycare space. I then bounced over to The Pet Shop Boys and expanded my expertise in high end product retail as well as the grooming side of the dog world.

In 2012 Dave and I adopted our terrier cross Willow from Dhana Metta Rescue. Although it was a rough start filled with separation anxiety and fear issues she is now a fearless sprite that keeps everyone laughing and playing all day.

Working with such amazing people, helping nurture and grow all of these businesses has been the highlight of my accomplishments living in Vancouver so far. I loved working with each and every company but hands down my favourite thing in the business is the home boarding! After being asked for the hundredth time – Why aren’t you in business for yourself? It is my pleasure to introduce our newest adventure – Wise Choice Pet Services.
