The University of Calgary High Altitude Balloons was created as part of the University of Calgary ABOVE^2 project and now serves the EPEX project. Dr Christopher Cully, of University of Calgary (UofC) is the Principal Investigator both projects. For more information about ABOVE^2 visit: https://wcm.ucalgary.ca/above2/

UCHAB was originally organized and coordinated by Dr. Laura Mazzino (Dr. Cully' postdoctoral fellow) but now is run by PhD student Matthew Patrick and Lab technician Dain Galts. The main goals of UCHAB are: 1) To train personnel for the ABOVE^2 campaign, 2) To test equipment and/or components for near-space orbit projects, 3) To develop capacity among the UofC community to use balloons as sub-orbital platforms.

The University of Calgary is a leading Canadian university located in the nation's most enterprising city. The university has a clear strategic direction to become one of Canada's top five research universities by 2016, where research and innovative teaching go hand in hand, and where we fully engage the communities we both serve and lead. This strategy is called Eyes High, inspired by the university's Gaelic motto, which translates as 'I will lift up my eyes.โ€™ For more information, visit www.ucalgary.ca
