The Mustard Seeds Youth Group 1.38

In 1997 we formed a group after several years of successful trips to Steubenville youth conferences by (late) Fr. Dave Cote. Our first meeting had 9 people, and was held in the home of Cathy Kempert (nee Agombar) downtown Hanover.

At the end of September, we organized our first ever bus trip to Acquire the Fire, held that year in Newmarket, Ontario. 25 students and leaders attended that year. The following Saturday night a "youth meeting" was held - music, games, teaching, prayer, and of course, snack - a format that members ever since will realize has stuck pretty well. Youth from Hanover, Walkerton, Durham, Chepstow, and everywhere in between were in attendance that night, and formed a core group that even today continues to influence the Catholic world in many ways.

Since then we have tried to change as little as possible, still meeting, still reaching, still praying and going to conferences and worshiping with all of our hearts. The Holy Spirit continues to draw young people to our group and we continue to do our best to love and serve them.
