At The Beehive JK, we provide a structured early learning programme, aiming to prepare children with the academic, social, emotional, creative, and physical skills needed to succeed in Kindergarten. We incorporate age- and developmentally-appropriate centres and opportunities to develop reading, writing, math, science, art, music, physical, and life skills. Our name, "Junior Kindergarten", was chosen to reflect our approach; we are not a playschool, but we provide plenty of opportunities for children to enjoy centres such as trains, puzzles, cars, painting, blocks, dramatic play, etcetera, to explore their creativity and develop their imaginations. Monthly themes provide a basis for our science units and class parties, and we love to use field trips as a practical introduction and conclusion to our topics. At The Beehive JK, we endeavour to provide our students with the best resources and opportunities for authentic learning and development as they begin their education careers!

We offer programming for children aged 3 to 5 years old. Children are introduced to our programme at age 3, and enroll in the 2-Day class. Your child must be potty-trained to attend The Beehive JK. All children enrolled in the 2-Day class are automatically registered and guaranteed a spot in the 3-Day class the following year. Parents who wish to attend the 3-Day programme ONLY (i.e., one year of preschool prior to Kindergarten), will be placed on a waiting list and enrolled if there is room, as those enrolled in the 2-Day programme are given priority for the 3-Day programme. The 3-Day class is intended for 4 and 5 year olds, with a greater emphasis on academic preparedness for Kindergarten. Please consider when you would like your child to attend Kindergarten, especially if they are born between January and March. Our age cut-off is December 31st.

We require a non-refundable deposit fee of $50.00 when you place your child on the Waiting List. This fee will reserve your child's spot in the 2-Day programme, as well as the 3-Day programme the following year.

As of September 2015, the cost of the 2-Day programme is $135.00 per month for Tuesdays/Thursdays, and you can choose to attend in either the mornings OR afternoons.

As of September 2015, the cost of the 3-Day programme is $165.00 per month for Mondays/Wednesdays/Fridays, mornings OR afternoons.

Morning Classes are held from 9:00 am - 11:30 am. Afternoon Classes are held from 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm. Parents provide a healthy snack for their child each day.

We invite parents to participate in special events, such as field trips and class parties throughout the year! However, we do not require parents to commit to a volunteer schedule, and we do not have a parent committee. We communicate with parents often via Facebook, email, and newsletters, so you always know the "buzz" around our Beehive :) And, of course, we love to chat in person when your drop off or pick up your children!
