------Connecting the Shuswap Through Music--------
This year our pre-festival outreach program, Routes & Blues, swings into its fourth year, running from August 1 -14, 2014.

Like last year, route specific daily itineraries comprised of a series of interesting hikes, a broad variety of side activities, and a delicious local meal capped with a Roots and Blues satellite concert, will introduce travelers and locals alike to the wonderful elements of the Shuswap lifestyle.

The purpose of the Routes and Blues outreach project is to facilitate experiences with various cultural elements, interactions with nature, and the promotion of local economic prosperity throughout the Shuswap.

As such, each day will offer a wide selection of activities. For example – for those that like digging their hands into the Earth’s fertile soil, there will be numerous animal and agricultural activities. Thrill seekers can enjoy ziplining, diving, cycling, and more. For other tastes there will be numerous opportunities to dabble in the artistic and cultural worlds of pottery, painting, and glasswork studios; and for the Foodies among us – the many farmer’s markets, incredible cafes, and glorious wineries of the Shuswap await your visit.

In conjunction with these, the Shuswap Trail Alliance has arranged morning or afternoon hikes for each daily route. On one day’s route see epic sights such as the waterfalls of Albas Falls Provincial Park.
After every daily hike, each host community will fire up their grills and ovens to offer mouth-watering yet economical pre-concert meals to hungry hikers and dancers alike. Eat your fill knowing that your support has provided a fundraising opportunity for that neighbourhood.

And for dessert – put on your dancing shoes and get ready to get down as the music begins! There are some amazing artists coming this year!
