In keeping with our mission statement, the 2018 Rock 'n Roll for Little Souls Car Show will continue to raise money for children's health on Vancouver Island.
History of the Rock 'n Roll funding support with Victoria General Hospital: From the inception of Rock 'n Roll for Little Souls, the event has provided funds to Pediatric care at Victoria
General Hospital
Victoria General Hospital is Vancouver Island’s pediatric specialty hospital. It has the Island’s only pediatric intensive care unit and one of only three Level 3 neonatal intensive care units in B.C. and the only one outside the Lower Mainland. It provides pediatric surgical services and specialty care, including cardiology, neurology, genetics, oncology, and more. Over 90% of Vancouver Island children needing hospital care are treated at Victoria General.

The Pediatric Unit at Victoria General Hospital (VGH) delivers care to children and teenagers from all regions of Vancouver Island. Every year, more than 14,000 child and youth patients receive care at VGH for a variety of concerns ranging from a broken arm to more serious conditions such as cancer.

The new Emergency Department at Victoria General, opened in September 2009, includes a specialized Pediatric Emergency Care Area with separate, specialized treatment areas and a dedicated waiting room for children and parents.

This hospital also has a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, which treats severely injured or critically ill babies, children, and teenagers who require one-to-one care 24 hours a day. This may include continuous observation and monitoring, intensive nursing, or life-supporting care.

Victoria General’s pediatric general surgery group provides 24/7 care for patients within the Vancouver Island Health Authority region, including comprehensive continuous care in the neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric intensive care unit, pediatric wards, and emergency room.

Every year at VGH:

• More than 14,000 child and youth patients receive care for conditions ranging from broken bones to chemotherapy
• More than 3,000 babies are born and nearly 500 are premature, high risk or critically babies that require care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• There are 1,200 outpatient and inpatient echo-cardiograms performed related to heart health concerns
• Approximately 20 new cases of pediatric cancer are diagnosed
• More than 10,000 children visit the VGH Emergency Department
• Donations support the purchase of equipment and special projects

The purchase of specialized pediatric equipment and funding for special projects that improve the hospital experience for patients and their families has been made possible thanks to the generous gifts and dedicated work from Community Volunteers since 2002 and the Saanich Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation continuing the tradition since 2008.
