We originated under the umbrella of the Tsimshian Tribal Council (TTC), where we began delivering justice initiatives to Aboriginal people in 1999. After the TTC's closure, we continued our work and incorporated under the name 'Aboriginal Justice Society'. Since then, we have undertaken more work in other areas, and to better reflect what we do, we have re-named our organization. Today, we are the non-profit Prince Rupert Aboriginal Community Services Society (PRACSS).

BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
The PRACSS Board of Directors is made up of a minimum of four (4) and a maximum of six (6) volunteer board members. The Board meets quarterly and each year holds an Annual General Meeting.

At PRACSS, we administer the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) Medical Transportation Policy Framework (MTPF) on behalf of First Nations Health Authority. Some conflicts inflict harm, and through this program, individuals must accept responsibility for inflicting that harm and work towards repairing the harm through our program, we bring together victims, offenders and the community to take part in developing and implementing solutions that are beneficial to those affected. Our clients include youth and adults from both the Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities.

Prince Rupert Aboriginal Community Services Society is the host agency for the Aboriginal Headstart

Prince Rupert Aboriginal Head Start (AHS) is a licensed pre-school that is dedicated to the multi-cultural needs of Prince Rupert's and Port Edward's children, with focus on our Aboriginal communities. We operate through our host agency, the PRACSS, to provide pre-school services for Aboriginal children aged three to five, in the Prince Rupert-Port Edward area. We opened in 1997 as Cedar Road, and in 2007 moved under the umbrella of the PRACSS.

BETTER AT HOME

Prince Rupert Better at Home helps seniors with simple day-to-day tasks, thereby helping seniors maintain their independence and stay connected with their community. The program offers specific non-medical services to seniors who are: 60 + years old, resides in Prince Rupert and living in their own home.

COMMUNITY ENTITY FOR THE ABORIGINAL HOMELESSNESS
Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS)

The HPS seeks to address homelessness by working in partnership with communities, provinces and territories, other federal departments and the private and not-for-profit sectors. Through its community-based approach, the HPS provides communities with the flexibility and tools to identify and address their own distinct homelessness needs and priorities. HPS funding is invested in local priorities identified by communities thorough a comprehensive community planning process involving a range of local stakeholders.
