Hello all! My name is Helen Davis-Mullin.

I have been teaching Yoga for over 11 years now. I am a certified Kripalu Yoga Teacher (Atlantic Yoga Teacher Training).
I also study/take various courses each year, to keep my knowledge fresh. ( Kripalu in Massachusetts http://kripalu.org and locally).

I taught yoga at the Dartmouth YMCA for 9 years until it closed in June 2015.
In August 2015, I decided (with the support of my family) to open a home-based studio. I taught in our home on Alpine Drive for one year, and then we decided to "downsize" in July 2016.
Over the years, I have also taught yoga in various schools, private classes, in different workplaces and yoga studios
I currently teach out of home, on Bellbrook Cres in Portland Hills & at Sunrise Yoga Studio in Dartmouth.
I love teaching yoga, and continue to do so - so that everyBODY, no matter what age or size or ability, will feel comfortable coming to a class.
I am 52 years old. I am a mom with 4 older kids - the last one is leaving the nest for University this fall. I am a wife to a loving husband, and we have a little non-shedding dog that we love to walk around the neighbourhood.

If you are without a yoga mat, I have these, (as well as blocks, blankets, yoga straps, & various other props - should you like) to help you take a class.
Kripalu Yoga, is a style of Hatha Yoga, (physical yoga). There are 4 components to each class; a short centering - 2 mins or so long, followed by warm ups for the postures/poses (asanas) followed by postures and finally Shavasana - relaxation for 10 minutes and sometimes more. Within all of the components mentioned is the ever important "Breath Work" Breathing (Pranayama). If you listen to your breath, you will be right there - in the Present moment.

If you have never done yoga before, then the Beginner Class is for you. You will be given a Health Form to fill out. It is very important that a Yoga teacher knows of any limitations an individual may have. This can be as simple as a previous break in a bone to high blood pressure, to more serious issues such as heart disease etc. all is kept confidential.

Most of us have "something" going on in terms of health/wellness. Postures are modified for various things such as high blood pressure, spinal issues etc.
Classes run in "sessions" of 5 to sometimes 12weeks at a time. Payments are per session, not per class.
If you have "yoga experience", and would like to join a session already underway, the cost of the session is equal to those remaining ($12 a class). these classes are 1 hour in length.

If you are NEW to Yoga, then the beginner class is an important step to take, as you will learn how to go into a posture and come out safely for your body. These classes run for 5 weeks and are 1.5 hours in length. The cost of these classes depends on the number of persons in the classes.
Casual & friendly, the classes are of various ages and sizes. Here, & what should be found in any yoga class, you have nothing to compete with, or against, not even with yourself. If you start from where you are, you will find you may end up in a place you didn't expect. The journey is one breath at a time.
Feel free to message me if you have any questions :) Helen
