Planters has come a long way in the last 111 years, and Mr. Peanut, the beloved Planters spokes-nut turned 101 this year. The iconic talking legume was born in 1916 when 14-year-old Suffolk, Virginia, student, Antonio Gentile, submitted his sketch to a Planters-sponsored mascot contest. Planters opened its first international office in Toronto in 1925. Since 1995, under license from Kraft Canada, Planters products in Canada are produced by JVF Canada. The sales rights and trademark were acquired from Hershey Canada. The manufacturing operations for Planters Canada are in Toronto, Ontario.
