Picnic at Dart 3.24

Picnic at Dart is a collaboration between the Dart Gallery and Picnic, up-to-now a dedicated pop-up restaurant run by Chef Allan (“Al”) MacPherson. After over a year of some memorable and delicious pop-ups at the Dart featuring menus complementing art exhibits tributing David Bowie, Jim Henson and the movies of 1984, the Dart and Picnic decided to join forces to offer a dining experience like none other in HRM. At Picnic at Dart you can enjoy art and amazing food and drinks in a non-pretentious, relaxed, but elegant setting.

Chef Al is trained in classical French cuisine, has worked in some of Halifax’s most well-regarding fine-dining establishments and has also been a BBQ ‘pit-boss’ for a few years. His style of cooking can be characterized as “modern North American” with both French and Asian influences. He enjoys experimenting with modernist cooking techniques and has been called an ‘evil genius’ in terms of his creations. His dishes at Picnic at Dart take inspiration from the art at the Dart, with the menu changing with each new exhibit.
