My services include a free meet and greet to get acquainted and to see if we are a good match, two prenatal meetings, my attendance at the birth, and one postnatal meeting. I provide sliding scale prices and work with the expecting parent(s) living in Campbell River, Quadra Island and Cortes Island.
Birth Doula’s provide information about childbirth and your options so that you can feel prepared and supported during the birth of your baby. I will establish a prenatal relationship with you so I know your preferences and how we can best work together, providing emotional, physical and educational support to you/you and your partner before, during and after childbirth. It is my goal for you to have the most fulfilling birth experience possible. My birth philosophy is that your body was made to give birth to your baby and you intuitively know the best way to do so.
Doula’s are trained labor companions who understand the physiology and anatomy of birth as well as the emotional and physiological demands. I practice comfort measures to help you cope with the intense physical sensations of labor, including massage, acupressure, the rebozo method, hot and cold packs, and position changes. The information we share with you can help you and your baby avoid unnecessary interventions and make informed decisions. By getting to know you during pregnancy, I can give you reassurance, kind words and comforting visualizations that cater to your needs, using my intuition as these needs change throughout the course of labor.
During these prenatal meetings we can also create a Birth Plan, so that everyone present can be aware of your preferences. I can coach you on questions to ask for informed decision making and remind you to ask them if your caregiver strays from your birth plan. I will be there as soon as you want me to be when labor begins and will stay until your family is ready for alone time after the birth. We will meet again within the first couple of weeks of your baby’s life to go over the birth, and I can help give you breastfeeding advice if needed.
