All About Us

My daughters, Ashley and Amanda, and I, Chari, fell in love with the Schapendoes breed back in 2002 when we met them at the All about Pet show held at the International Center in Malton, Ontario. We were not looking at the time for a new dog, but after meeting the very friendly, energetic bunch of Schapendoes, we could not resist getting one. In 2003, we welcomed our first Schapendoes into our home. Mugsy was one of the first official litters bred here in Canada.

We have continued to go to the All About Pet Show, where we developed a relationship with the breeders of Schapendoes here in Ontario and Quebec. It was after the passing of Mugsy that we decided that we too would also like to start breeding and showing the Schapendoes breed. We then welcomed into our home Quigley, which means messy hair, in 2010 and began our plans to breed. In 2011, when we brought Millie into our home.

Over the last few years, we have been taking Millie to Canadian Kennel Club confirmation events and United Kennel Club confirmation events. Millie is now a United Kennel Club Champion as of 2014. She was also top female Schapendoes in 2014 as well as second female Schapendoes in 2013 with the United Kennel Club.

We feel that the Schapendoes are an all around great family dog. They are adaptable and capable of being trained in all areas, but love agility, herding, and rallying courses. We have found the Schapendoes to be a very loving breed, who serve to please their owners. They have inquisitive personalities, are loyal and sometimes downright goofy. They get along with all of our other dogs here in the house, a standard poodle, a puli, and a shih tzu. They are great family dogs, whether we are going for a long walk, playing in the back yard, or just sitting on the couch watching television, our Schapendoes are glad to be with us.

We are currently located in a small rural town. Tottenham is located approximately one hour north of Toronto, Ontario. The dogs love running around in our backyard, or playing in the conservation area down the street.

We decided to start breeding Schapendoes to help encourage to continual growth of this breed, but to also introduce a unique, beautiful and low maintenance family dog into the community. As we move into breeding Millie, we are looking to maintain the look and healthy standards of the breed. We look forward to breeding Millie in early 2015.
