Mahamevnawa is an organization of monasteries established for the sake of spiritual development of human beings through the teachings of the Gautama Supreme Buddha who was born in 500 B.C. with the only intention of providing spiritual help in order to make one's mind pure which is useful for the realization of Nibbana: the unbounded liberation.

With the sole intention of serving the people of Toronto, its founder Venerable Bhikkhu Kiribathgoda Gnānānanda, started the Toronto chapter in 2006, making it the first overseas centre of the Mahamevnāwa Buddhist Monastery Network.
Since its’ inception, Mahamevnāwa Toronto has drawn a large number of lay devotees not only across Canada but in certain parts in the United States who earnestly wanted to learn the Buddhist discourses in its purest form. Monks of the monastery conduct Dhamma programs in the Canadian provinces such as Ontario, Nova Scotia, Alberta and Manitoba and American provinces such as Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Florida. Also from time to time it conducts live programs via the internet. They benefit from the sermons, meditation sessions and are also able to offer alms to the monks, which help them to develop the path to TRUE happiness.
Kids, youths and adults practice virtue, generosity, mediation, learning Dhamma, and Dhamma discussions using following programs such as Kids’ Program 1 (English & Sinhala), Kids’ Program 2 (English), Youth Program (English), Main Meditation Programs with eight precepts (Sinhala), Main meditation program with eight precepts (English), Evening Meditation Program (English).
