It was a cold winter afternoon in a cozy little home. The sun was glaring through the blinds and radiating heat to the inside of the house, but was doing little to warm the freezing temperatures outside. The TV was on at a low volume as I was excruciatingly bored. Puma (the cat) was tearing up the couches and bouncing off the walls. I hadn't even given him any catnip, although it seemed like he was surrounded in the middle of a field of catnip. Bottom line, Puma was undeniably pent up! Ignoring this fluffy and cute abundance of energy, I was scrolling through my Facebook feed, with my feet planted on the coffee table. I kept feeling his tail flick my feet as he zipped past underneath them. This went on for what seemed like the better part of an hour until --SMASH--!

Puma had jumped up on the narrow windowsill where an Aloe Vera plant was growing in a clay pot with such force that he slammed into the pot and it toppled over smashing all over the floor. Startled I had jumped up and threw my phone to the side running to Puma and the plant to check on the damage. Thankfully the plant could be repotted and would hopefully live, and Puma had not even a scratch about him. "Phew!" I thought. I cleaned the soil up from the floor and sat back down to check on my phone. After opening the phone back to my Facebook feed, there was a picture of a suspension bridge. AHAH! I had it! I was going to end my boredom, and hopefully cease Puma's! I was going to create a miniature suspension bridge.

I drove straight down to Home Hardware and purchased some lumber, some sisal rope, and a few other things to begin my new project. After completion of my suspension bridge I had it hung up the same day inside my home - not painted, and not fancy at all, but raw and rough looking. I still had yet to string the bridge railings, and my pent up companion was already beyond interested in his new toy. As the string dangled, being looped through the bridge, Puma was voraciously attacking the string. I've never dealt with this before, working to complete a task, while my cat was deterring me from finishing.

All in all, a little while later I had completed the bridge. It was time for my test subject. Looking around for Puma, I couldn't find him on the floor anymore. Instead, he was already racing across the bridge! It was an INSTANT success! Puma loved the bridge, and for the remainder of the winter I would find this fuzzy little creature laying directly in the middle of the bridge in front of the window from where it spanned soaking up the sun. The Aloe Vera plant lived happily ever after... until it was harvested for its medicinal qualities.

This is how Spoiled Little Rascals began. There was a need for a bridge, and through that need for a bridge, I stumbled upon a passion. I love animals, of all shapes and sizes. I realized that I could provide homes and other neat handmade play toys for these magnificent creatures. This in turn helps people of all walks of life deter their animals from scratching their couches, ruining their furniture, or even knocking over a beloved Aloe Vera plant!
