Lamesa is a Filipino restaurant located in downtown Toronto. Our food is not traditional Filipino but rather Filipino inspired. Our style is shaped by our environment and where and how we grew up. We take a regional approach to the cuisine. Each of the 7000+ islands in the Philippines has developed their own style based on their customs, surroundings and what is locally available. For us, Toronto is just another island.

We pride ourselves in providing warm and friendly service. We have a passion for Filipino food and we want to share it with you. Come in on your own, with a date, or with a bunch of friends and discover the diverse flavours of Filipino cuisine.

WHAT IS FILIPINO FOOD?

Imagine a native Malay cook with a Chinese roommate being taught by a Spanish Chef with a love affair for everything American and you will begin to understand what Filipino food is all about.

Filipino food offers a bold combination of sweet, sour, and salty flavours. There is often an aspect of counterpoint in each dish where contrasting flavours such as sweet and salty are paired together to create delicious combinations. Filipino cuisine has had many cultural influences throughout its development. Chinese traders, Spanish settlers, and American soldiers have all contributed to the cuisine.
