Thank you for taking time to stop by and read about me and Kokar.

I am a passionate crafter that came from sunny South America to live in cold , yet sunny Canada some years ago. I handmake all my pieces in my small room, my cozy little world, in an old house in a scenic rocky island in the North Atlantic Ocean called Newfoundland, the place I have called home for the last 10 years.

I have always loved to design fabric hair accessories, all because of my little girl who came to my life 6 years ago. My special inspiration. You can check my other shop here www.etsy.com/pickmearose.

My little business was born out of my passion for all things handmade, unique, vintage with a flair of modernity and yet timeless. I have always loved to reuse, upcycle and repurpose materials and objects in my daily life, ( check out my craft blog you feel like so! www.thesimplecraftdiaries.blogspot.com) , therefore I am so pleased that I can transfer this way of life to my business and add an eco-friendly aspect to my work.
All the pieces are designed by me and most are OOAK (one of a kind). All are handmade in Newfoundland in my craft studio and I love to mix new and upcycled quality materials for a unique vintage-inspired look. The handmade fascinators are crafted with high quality new and up-cycled materials such as wool, felted wool, wet felted wool, leather, real fur and knits. I love to mix materials, textures and techniques, and this allows me to design and create pieces that are unique and that feature exactly what I envisioned when designing the piece.

I respect my customers choices and preferences, so with each listing I include a full list of materials so that you can decide if you prefer recycled fibers/materials or new ones.

If you are wondering what is the meaning behind the name, Kokar (cocar) is the name given by Brazilian aboriginal peoples from the Amazon to the beautifully crafted head pieces they use in their festivities, wars ( in ancient times that is) and in their
daily life.

I hope that by visiting my shop you feel at home and come back as often you please and whenever you feel like it!

I will be delighted!

Tchau for now,

Andréa
