Often called "H", Helen is a professional photographer who, almost a decade ago, left the downtown Toronto corporate world to follow her dreams… and she has never looked back!

Like most photographers, she’s been composing images in her mind for as long as she can remember. What makes her different from most, however, is she places more importance on the feeling of photography and her art than on the technical aspects of making images.

Helen’s first love is nature and wildlife. She has spent countless hours tracking animals, chasing light and waiting patiently for a being that may or may not appear. She’s also passionate about sports and has spent the last few years travelling in Canada, the U.S. and Europe photographing professional sporting events.

While she’s very much at home shooting in all sorts of conditions in the great outdoors, Helen also enjoys photographing people at home, work and play. Some of her past work includes capturing celebrities on the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival, charitable or special events, such as the Tour for Kids and Oakville Mayor’s Invitational Tournament, portraits for professionals, and family pictures.

In her spare time, you can find Helen with Keens on her feet and a camera in her hand, fulfilling her wanderlust, or sitting in a Muskoka chair with one of her animals at her side, enjoying farm life.

Why Muskoka? Helen was lucky to attend Lakefield College School – a high school that placed equal importance on physical and academic education, believing a healthy mind could reside only in a healthy body. It was then that she first fell in love with the beauty of Muskoka, participating in yearly canoe trips and dog-sledding expeditions in Algonquin Park. Helen has lived in Oakville, Vancouver, Melbourne and Toronto, but now calls Muskoka home. She has a gallery in Port Carling beside the Muskoka Chair Company - open seasonally - and invites you to come by for a browse or chat.
