I have an amazing life! I have a loving, supportive husband and together we are blessed with 10 children. We live in a large, beautiful home, drive new vehicles, and have the privilege of travelling the world. I am surrounded by family and friends, and I love my life… But I hasn’t always been this way.
My parents separated when I was young, and the ferocity of their separation, led to my permanent placement in the foster care system where I bounced from home to home, and the adoption of my younger siblings. Statistically speaking, by the age of sixteen, I should have either been a prostitute, drug addict, alcoholic, or deceased.
I was none of those things; however I did find myself dealing with a really ugly divorce in 2007. It was one of the scariest experiences of my life, made so much worse by how very angry my Ex-husband was.
I had a lot of questions and not many people I could get solid advice from. I had a lawyer, but found it very difficult to reach him at the time that I needed his advice plus it was very costly to ask questions. This lead to me making split second decisions from a place of anger and fear, which made things much worse than they needed to be. At the end of it all, I found that things had escalated to the point where no one was any longer concerned about the most important part of the whole thing - the children.
In 2013 I found myself going through it all over again, and in late 2014, I stood by my future spouse as he went through it with his wife.
At that time I was working and taking schooling as a community support worker. The stress I was going through as a result of three broken families, lead to 3 car accidents, in the space of 2 months. As a result I ended up dropping out of school and quitting my job.
As you can imagine, all this chaos lead to depression. I felt that medication was not an option due to a fear that it would be used against me in my custody battle. I sought out counseling, and was told from the counselors that they were learning more from me then they had to offer me. This left me feeling frustrated and alone.
Finally a friend gave me the contact information for a local Hypnotherapist, saying that she was very good. At this point I felt so hopeless that I was ready to try anything. So I made an appointment. After just one session, my life path completely changed. It was the first thing I had ever tried, that had ever made any kind of difference for me in my life. I found myself feeling hopeful and excited for the first time in a very long time.
This led me down a long path of training in a number of different modalities, and healing, landing me where I am now as a Companionate Divorce Coach.
So how can I help you?
By assisting you and your loved ones in working through and moving past the pain and heartache associated with separation and divorce.
Statistics in Canada show that 51.1 percent of 1st marriages with children end in divorce, and 21.3 percent of first common-law marriages with children end in divorce. In total more than 72 percent of couples with children in Canada end in separation and divorce. These numbers are astounding!
What does this mean?
It means that your divorce is not your fault. It’s not the fault of your spouse either.
With a divorce rate of 72%, this is a societal fault due to a lack of knowledge, and a history of generational trauma.
You’ll learn how to…
• Effectively support your children through this time to minimize trauma.
• Communicate more effectively with your ex-spouse.
• Address barriers that are keeping you from moving forward.
• Set clear co-parenting goals.
• Separate the emotions from the legal issues.
• Transition from married life, to being single.
• Understand Toxic Stress and how it effects adults and children.
• Set new goals for financial security and stability.
• Find the legal support you need.
• Enrol with mandatory parenting after separation courses, and any other courses that may assist you.
• Move past the pain of divorce.
• Deal with past and genetic traumas in order to raise the chances of future relationship success.
• Stay focused on what’s most important.
• Save money.
Separation and divorce is considered to be one of the single most traumatic experiences most people face in their life time. And it doesn’t just affect you and your spouse. It effects 5 generations on both sides of the family.
I provide my clients with the tools they need to thrive during this time, in 6 sessions or less. Plus, I am available to my clients around the clock, during times of crisis.
