Ground Roots will renew and market wild and ancient foods that are ethically sourced and gathered or cultivated to create an economically sound and environmentally sustainable food-service business.

The business model incorporates the traditional practices of the First Peoples and will market wild foods that are foraged and/or cultivation. These are food sources that are traditionally harvested, gathered, foraged, hunted, and or fished for and are generally known in the market system as non-timber forest products (NTFPs).

In its first year the mobile farmers market will be able to offer a limited list of produce as FN communities explore the potential and support grows.

To enhance market reach and educate the public about these foods, Ground Roots will also provide a food-service that will promote and highlight how to prepare and use foods like sumac, cattails, wild rice, and other ancient ingredients that are indigenous to Turtle Island (North America) through work-shops and catering services.

Ground Roots also provides cater services and offers a basic seasonal menu with the ability to customize based on need and customer budget. Some examples may include buffalo, elk, venison, rabbit, and fish as well our salads and desserts will highlight ingredients like maple syrup, honey, wild rice, grains, legumes, beans, tuber vegetables, berries and fruits.
