The burgundy wooden structure sits on Hayward Avenue and Fleming Street, not far from downtown. It opened in 1949 as a watering hole for men who drove the city’s horse-drawn garbage wagons. They called it “The Ashman’s Inn” and quartered their horses and carts in a stable across the street. As the years went by The Ashman’s Inn became The Corner Tavern and was known as one of the last two “Men’s only “ bars in St. John’s. Sometime in the early eighties “The Corner“became the Georgetown Pub, your friendly neighbourhood pub. As of today, The Georgetown has proven its name as the your friendly neighbourhood pub as it's won awards in 2009 and 2010 in The Scope’s Best of St. John’s , and we were also runner up for best Karaoke bar
