Our Company History

Four Seasons is one of the largest RV dealers in Canada with a history that goes back more than 45 years. In the early 1960’s, Emil Hoffman started a small business, McGuffins Garage selling Ski Doo snowmobiles. In the late 60’s, the business moved to a new location on King Street, was renamed Hoffman’s Marina and added boats to the business’ inventory.

In 1973, Hoffman’s Marina was sold to Bruce Biesenthal from Saskatchewan. With the change of hands came a new name, “Bruce’s Four Seasons”. Bruce added travel trailers, fifth wheels, and truck campers to the line-up.

Peter Dillon moved to Virden as a Honda mechanic-salesman in 1976. Two years later in 1978, Four Seasons purchased Mitchell Datsun, the building next door, to handle the increasing Honda sales. In 1980, Don Gray moved to Virden as the Honda salesman. At this time, ATV sales were booming.

Don and Peter purchased the business in 1983 from Bruce. In 1991, the annual show sale was moved to Brandon. The following year, the two partners restructured their company to specialize in travel trailers and fifth wheels. Where did the Honda marine and Ski Doo portion of the company go? It was sold to Norman Murray who had been the head marine mechanic at Four Seasons for many years. Four Seasons had condensed their operations into the Datsun building selling only RVs.

In 1995, Don and Peter moved the business to its present location on the north side of Highway #1. This was the former Case – IH building known as Sherwood Equipment.

Over the next few years the business grew rapidly. With the increasing sales of RVs and demand for a larger inventory, Four Seasons built two large buildings. The main building consists of Sales, Parts and Service departments and the other one for the Wash bay facility. More land was purchased in order to display the RVs, bringing it from 16 acres to an impressive 100 acres. Twenty-five of these are used to display our new and used inventory for our customer’s convenience. The rest of our property is used to house customer’s trailers for winter storage.

Between 1998 and 2006, three more partners were added to Four Seasons. Rob Denolf was a veteran employee, Dave Chyzyk was a senior employee of Virden Credit Union and Kent Plaisier was a long time employee heading parts and services. By 2002, Four Seasons had pioneered a very successful road service program. It included two service vans and RV technicians running 24/7 to bring an unprecedented level of service to Four Seasons customers.

A combination of many factors have lead to the success of Four Seasons. Access to good employees and low operating costs in a rural area have played a huge role in providing a level of customer service that is the envy of dealers all across North America. Four seasons takes all precautions to provide a safe haven for customers’ trailers. Weekly meetings are a must in an effort to keep up the great service that our customers talk about. Four Seasons has more than 90 employees help keep the operations running smoothly. Today Four Seasons continues to grow and bring in new ideas to help improve the company.
