Dowtown Sound is owned and operated by Mario ("Rockin' Rio") Pietrangeli, a graduate of Recording Arts Canada who has been recording bands and music since 1996. Downtown Sound offers professional recording, mixing and mastering using Cubase, Protools, Wavelab and other software coupled with solid analog gear.

Conveniently located in the heart of downtown Hamilton at Barton and James Street North, Downtown Sound incorporates professionally designed tracking and control rooms in a relaxed and comfortable setting. Downtown Sound offers a range of professional analog and digital equipment, starting with the SSL Alpha XL Madi interface; 24 channel '80s vintage UK Sountracs mixing console; Universal Audio, Daking and GAP outboard pre-amps; Universal Audiio, UREI, Chameleon Labs, GAP and Symetrix compressors, limiters and gates; Fostex E-16 1/2" multi-track recorder.

Microphones include studio classics from Neumann, AKG, Sennheiser, Oktava, Shure, 3-Zigma/ADK and others.

Artists recording at Downtown Sound also gain access to the "Studio Collection" of vintage amplifiers, high quality guitars, effects and other equipment (advance arrangements required).
