Cyan Creative Art 2.51

The purpose of my work is to experience, absorb, emulate and interpret the beauty I see in the world.
Pencil and watercolour on paper were my first mediums. With portraits, I feel the need to capture the subtlety of emotion in facial expressions. Not as an interpretation to satisfy my own ego, but to respect it as it was experienced. I have come to trust this modest medium to represent a high degree of detail represented in these works.
Acrylics are my newest medium and thus, each piece serves to facilitate my desire for more creative exploration. I have chosen not to limit myself to one subject or style, but to act on the impulse of that which inspires me in the moment. This explains the diversity of my work.
Primarily a self-taught artist, I have also had the pleasure of studying with other inspiring artists at The Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, Vancouver, The Vancouver
College of Art, Vancouver and Vancouver Island University, Nanaimo.
My artistic discovery transpires into my work as a professional hairstylist. As principle of Cyan Salon, I have created a cutting edge studio with work featured in photographic publications that has garnered National awards.
