CLS ACADEMY PROGRAM – SAFETY. CONFIDENCE. FUN.

The CLS Academy Program provides a non –competitive, no- pressure learning environment structured to Equine Canada’s approved progression of horsemanship levels. The student learns the basics of horsemanship and riding skills and can progress as far as they wish, at their own pace.

Our Academy lesson fees include the horse, equipment, and world-class instruction. All that the student is required to bring is a certified riding helmet, boots with a one inch heel and a positive attitude. The CLS Academy Program is for riders of all ages and stages!


ABOUT THE HEAD COACH/INSTRUCTOR

Over the last 40 years, Equine Canada certified coach, Archie Hurst, has taught over 2,500 students. Many of Archie’s students have gone on to become top equitation riders locally and internationally. Archie has coached Canada's World Cup Equitation Team for the past decade. As a 4th generation horseman and breeder, Mr. Hurst has a level of knowledge that ranks in the the top 10% of Equine Coaches in Canada. He is now taking his expertise to the general public with the launch of the CLS Academy Program.

Our facilities boast well-heated, well-light, and extremely clean stalls, arena, and office. Clover Leaf Stables has been beautifully maintained and is still one of Edmonton’s newer facilities. We pride ourselves in keeping our environment clean, safe and comfortable for our horses and riders.

THE LESSON PROGRAM - FITNESS FOR LIFE

Lessons are taught in the climate controlled arena on calm, well trained, and responsive horses. You can choose to learn in the disciplines of English, Western, Driving and/or Horsemanship.

The initial package of 10 lessons covers the fundamentals of tacking up, the walk, the trot and canter. Every student progresses at their individual rate and current skill level. While some students cover more or less than these standard set of skills, we believe that fundamentals are crucial to long term enjoyment of riding and so we manage progression of skills very carefully.
We also believe that the student must become very comfortable working around horses, so lessons spend important time on horsemanship skills and knowledge. By the end of 10 lessons, our goal is that our students have learned how wonderful horses are and have the basic skills to embark on years of joyful riding.
For those who are more advanced, lessons focus on preparing a rider to ride competently in a variety of situations with confidence and success. The student is brought along at an individual pace to achieve their own goals, whether that is to ride in the show ring or to just enjoy a pleasurable ride, progress to whatever level you feel comfortable and whatever riding goals you are looking to achieve.

FUN

Ultimately we stress fun! Riding is intended to be a safe and enjoyable experience. It is also an excellent opportunity for "Fitness for Life!" Come by for a visit and we can talk about how we might most effectively work together.

FEES
Lessons are fifty dollars + GST per hour and are sold in Ten Lesson Packages.
