Cape Breton Miners Memorial Speedway, as it has been recently called, opened as a 1/4-mile oval race track in 1976. At the time of construction of the oval the land in front of where the speedway currently sits was a small amusement park type business.
When current owners Bill and Lynne Vasil took over the facility at the beginning of 2014, they went to work to give race fans and teams alike a place they would want to come to a race at, whether they were from nearby or from all reaching points of the region.
After running three very successful seasons the current owners have decided to step back from the raceway and focus on their other business interests located in Nova Scotia.
