FAQ SECTION:
Our motto is "experience the difference". What does it mean?
Just what it says. When you come to our office, you will definitely have a different dental experience. Not only the way you are treated by our caring staff and the state of the art equipment that we use, but also the surroundings. Our award winning historic restoration along with the art work create a comfortable and soothing environment that makes one feel relaxed. The comment we hear most is ”WOW, this doesn’t feel like a dental office”.

Can implants fail?
Yes they can, however, with careful treatment planning, this risk is minimized. However, they do not decay, as they are made of titanium.

Is it necessary to experience pain during root canal procedures?
Not normally. In most cases, the opposite is the norm. The patient that presents to the office in pain normally leaves relieved. This is accomplished by relieving the pressure that is created from an abscessed tooth.

Is it possible to freeze an abscessed tooth?
Yes. In most cases we can freeze, open and drain an abscessed tooth. This results in immediate pain relief and a future appointment is then made to complete the procedure in comfort.

Is it necessary to take antibiotics when you have an abscessed tooth?
In our office, we find that once we open and drain the abscessed tooth, it is no longer necessary to prescribe antibiotics. Our experience shows that only about 1 in 20 of our root canal patients need antibiotics. We strongly believe in minimal use of antibiotics.

We have 6 dentists practicing at Canterbury Dental Clinic. Does the patient have a choice in selecting their dentist?
Yes, absolutely. We try and match up the patients needs with the best matching dentist. However, it is the patients privilege to switch dentists at anytime. Simply mention it to the receptionist. Also, because we have 6 dentists, it is very common for us to have a discussion in order for us to determine all possible options for our patients. In many cases, 6 heads are better than one.

Is it necessary to get frozen for all dental procedures?
No, in fact we can do many procedures without anaesthesia. Laser technology is just one means of achieving this. We can discuss your options.

Do I have to pay at the time of treatment?
Yes. Unless special arrangements have been made, that is the case. Normally, first time patients must pay us, and we will submit your insurance claim electronically. In most cases, we will bill your insurance and the balance remaining must be paid at the time of treatment.

Do you treat patients on social assistance?
Yes, we do.

Do you have any discount plans?
Yes, for people that can come on short notice, we sometimes offer a discount. Discuss this with the receptionist. She’s the boss.
