The Canadian Nordic Society celebrates the links and common interests between Canada and the Nordic countries: Iceland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland.

Our members experience the culture of the Nordic countries and learn about their economic, social, political, and physical landscapes through an exciting program of speakers, social events, and celebrations. Our speaker series has featured eminent Canadians and visitors including ambassadors, explorers, scientists, academics, film directors, former Prime Ministers, and well-known authors.

The Canadian Nordic Society is based in Canada’s National Capital Region. Our monthly luncheons and many of our events take place at the Army Officers’ Mess at
149 Somerset Street West, (just east of Elgin Street), Ottawa. Some Parking at the Mess is available for evening events. There is also parking available on neighbourhood streets. 24-hour parking is available a short walk away at Ottawa City Hall on Laurier Avenue.

We encourage everyone with an interest in the Nordic countries to apply for membership in the Canadian Nordic Society. Our membership is made up of both Canadians and non-Canadians. The serving ambassador of each Nordic country is an Honorary Member.

Annual membership dues are: $30.00 for an individual, $45.00 for a family and $20.00 for a student (2015-16 rates). The membership year runs from September 1 to August 31. Members enjoy free admission to most Canadian Nordic Society events. We work with the Embassies and other organizations to inform our members about events, news, and announcements of interest.
