Our four key programs are designed to build a sustainable, cooperative research community in Canada.
• We provide high school students with an amazing hands-on opportunity to discover the world of genetic research in some of the top labs in the country GRFAW.
• We encourage and enable university students to pursue both an MD and a PhD degree in the field of genetics through our Scriver MD/PhD Studentships. Physicians who understand research and researchers who manage patients play a valuable role in the pursuit of cures and treatments for disease.
• CGCF directly funds genetic research through its research grant program. To continue with our mandate to grow the genetics community, we will be introducing a new research grant opportunity in 2011 for post doctoral researchers. This initiative will provide a much needed increase in manpower on important research projects and opportunity for mentorship for Canada’s next generation of scientists.
• We also support opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of information within the human genetics community through the Annual Canadian Human Genetics Conference
