Remaining Open to Continuous Learning means that we are open to new experiences and willing to learn from them. Learners who engage in this Habit are proud and humble enough to admit when they don't know something. They are also very curious. At BES, we strive to ensure students develop a wide range of competencies including being an engaged thinker who remain open to continuous learning.

As parents, there are many ways to assist your child develop Habits of Mind. Some examples include:

Model and explain that making mistakes is critical to learning and improving
Encourage your child to use precise words instead of generalizations
Use words and questions to stimulate deeper thought
Provide your child with information when looking for a solution instead of telling him/her the solution/answer
Encourage looking at issues and situations from many points of view
Model trying new things, learning, growing, and thinking through problems
Assist your children to look at an issue and decide what might be needed to help
