Armadale Tennis Club would like to officially open its doors to new and past members (TBA 2018 season coming mid April) . We will be there to accept registrations from 10:00AM - 2:00PM. The weather is warming up and what better way to advantage of this than by picking up those tennis racquets and heading over to the courts! Armadale had a successful 2016 and hope to continue with that trend into the new season.

Programs the club will be running this year include:

Junior Weekend Sports & Tennis Program – (Coordinator: Kevin Zhou)
This year, Gabriella Umoquit, a former ITF and WTA ranked pro, joins the club as the head coach of our weekend program. Chris Li, our home grown OTA certified instructor, will also be back this year helping with the program. The program now offers an option to sign up for 1 or 2 days of each weekend to accommodate those who cannot commit to both days. The program will continue in its regular time slot from 10:00am to12:00noon. The program starts on the first weekend in June 2017 and runs until the last weekend in August. This program includes scheduled programming to children and students looking to improve their tennis skills and overall fitness levels.

Men’s B2 League Team – (Captain: Ed Fung)
The Men’s team will be participating in the Toronto Men’s Tennis League once again this year. The team has been improving its record over the past few years and is looking for new players to compete at the highest level to help Armadale rise through the ranks. Matches are played every Thursday starting at 6:30pm (some exceptions) with our first on Thursday May 11th. Practices are held every Monday 7:00-9:00pm. Armadale will be holding tryouts Wednesday April 24th at 7:30pm. We ask that anyone interested in playing for the team to please mark this date in your calendars! Just a friendly reminder, to play for the team, you must be a member. There is an extra fee to play for the Men’s Team. The money is used to help defray the cost of hosting home games. Our schedule can be found at the following site: http://www.tmtl.tenniscores.com/team.php?team=FLJJAsJTtrg%3D

Singles Ladder – (Coordinator: Chris Li) - Starting June 1st, 2017.
After having had a successful turnout with 20 competitors last year, the club will continue with the same scheduled program with minor changes. Further details regarding rules will be provided prior to the program’s start.

Adult Tennis Instruction Program
This adult group lesson program last year was a resounding success. Non-beginners reported increased confidence with improved strokes and greater consistency in rallies. For beginners, it's an easy pleasant way to meet other members to play with outside of lessons and it's a very cost effective way to learn tennis properly to prevent injuries and experience greater enjoyment of a game that you could play well into your 80's or longer.

President’s Cup (doubles) – (Coordinator: TBA)
Last year’s president’s Cup was a major success. With 26 participants and 24 matches played over a span of 3 weeks. Much excitement and enjoyment was had by all. The tournament will be held in August. Results of the doubles ladder will help provide seeding for this tournament.

Doubles Ladder (doubles) – (Coordinator: Steve Li) - Starting May 1st, 2017. We are introducing, for the first time and in lieu of our usual doubles house league, a doubles ladder. In the last few years, with the changes in the house league and the President’s Cup, we’ve been missing playing together with our favorite partners. So, here's your chance to start strategizing with your partner and make every recreational set played count for something.

Volunteering – (Coordinator: TBD)
The success of any community club lies in the hands of its members. This year the club will be actively seeking out volunteers to help with all programs mentioned above, including monitoring of courts and general duties associated with maintenance of the club, such as taking up/down nets and windscreens. The Club will be looking for members to step forward and volunteer some time to help ATC throughout the season. If you are interested in helping the club this year, kindly email armadaletennis@gmail.com and we will discuss different options available to fit your schedule while helping the club.

A reminder to parents and students that volunteering hours can be tracked by the club to help a student achieve his or her 40 hours of volunteering service required for their high school graduation requirements. Once again, kindly email the club to discuss further options.

All the staff and execs at Armadale look forward to seeing you this summer! See you on SATURDAY APRIL 22TH 2017!
