L’ASBL THE GAUMIAN LADS a été constituée le 5 juin 2016 et a pour objet la promotion du rock et de la musique en général ainsi que de toute activité artistique, touristique ou autre qui contribuerait au bon fonctionnement de l’association. Elle poursuit la réalisation de cet objet par tout moyen, principalement l’organisation de concerts, festivals et activités musicales et artistiques.

Nos centres d’intérêt se trouvent dans les contre-cultures britanniques (UK subcultures) nées de l’après-guerre suite aux vagues migratoires et à l’avènement de la musique rock dans les années 1960.

Les divers courants musicaux qui en émanent témoignent d’une grande richesse artistique et d’une forte influence tant sur la mode, les arts en général et le style de vie des gens.

Que vous soyez mod, teddy boy, oï, ska, reggae, punk, shoegaze, Madchester, Britpop ou encore cold wave, les racines sont les mêmes et c’est précisément sur cette base commune que nous souhaitons promouvoir ces contre-cultures dans une approche non-mercantile et ouverte.

La Gaume est notre terre natale. Son magnifique patrimoine et son histoire seront aussi au centre de nos attentions. Nous entendons bien insister sur la promotion de notre belle région lors de nos événements, et ce de concert avec les acteurs du tourisme et de la culture.

THE GAUMIAN LADS is a non-profit organization subject to Belgian Law founded 5th June 2016. It aims at promoting rock and music in general as well as any forms of art and tourism activities that could contribute to the smooth running of the organization. The NGO will endeavour to reach this objective by any legal means necessary, notably via the organization of concerts, festivals, art shows and musical activities.

We have a clear focus on the UK subcultures born in the aftermath of WWII upon the impetus of immigration movements in the United Kingdom along with the advent of rock music in the 1960s.

The different musical styles born during this period serve as a testimony of that time’s amazing artistic wealth and strong influence on fashion, arts and people’s lifestyles in general.

Whether you are mod, teddy boy, oi, ska, reggae, punk, shoegaze, Madchester, Britpop or even cold wave, the roots remain the same and it is precisely on this common ground that we wish to promote these subcultures with an open, non-mercantilist approach.

The Gaume region is our motherland. We do care about its magnificent heritage and history. Therefore, we will lay the emphasis on the promotion of our beautiful region during our events, and this in partnership with the local actors in the culture and tourism sectors.
