Kinky Star is a non-profit youth and music center which promotes non-commercial genres and young debuting artists. We serve as a meeting point for music lovers, musicians and other artists of any kind. We have our own Club, RadioShow, youth projects and count on numerous volunteers to support us.

We strongly believe in a DIY- philosophy to maintain the independence of the artist and serve as a stepping-stone for upcoming musicians towards a successful music career.

Kinky Star has 4 core businesses:
☆ Kinky Star Records
The record label is engaged in the digital distribution of releases. We distribute releases of artists and bands to different digital platforms, where they can be streamed and downloaded.

☆ The Kinky Star Club
We provide 5 days of (free) concerts a week. These shows often serve as a breakthrough to bigger stages and festivals for the bands who get to play here. During the Gentse Feesten festival there’s a special program with 4 concerts a day during 10 days.

☆ The Kinky Star Radio Show
Our radio show contains information, live sessions and of course lots of music. We can be heard on urgent.fm every monday.

☆ Music educative project JonGeduld
JonGeduld is our music educative project where teenage musicians can take their first steps into the music business and grow towards a bright future in music!

Besides these 4 core businesses, Kinky Star supports numerous projects such as “K met de kunst van Kinky” which offers opportunities for different kinds of art and so on.

In 1997 it was Luc Waegeman, former drummer of the SeXmachines, who founded the well-known venue in Ghent and in the international music scene. The band decided to release their own record, which evolved into their own label “Kinky Star”. Nowadays Kinky Star focuses more on concerts, the radio show and the youth educative project JonGeduld.
