The big demand for crew, to keep the numerous U.S. FAA registered aircraft flying in Europe, has created the need of a specialized European flight training center. The crewmembers, often living somewhere in Europe need to be trained according standard FAA rules (U.S.) for FAA currency and licenses. Besides that the pilots need a broad knowledge of the JAR (European) rules when they are flying in Europe in order to assure the highest safety standards.

The efficiency of the “American way of training”, now partially adapted by the JAA, is the main reason for flight training in the FAA system. With the combination of the FAA system and the European JAR system the independent American Flight Training Center brings both worlds of aviation together. This efficiency proves itself with a low cost price for the necessary training and the high pilot standards with an unblemished safety record.

In the summer of 1998 Mr. Willem C.J.M. van Genk, pilot since 1976, founded the American Flight Training Center in Antwerp airport. Captain Mr. van Genk possesses besides the JAA commercial license and instrument rating the FAA ATP license and the FAA aircraft single, multi and instrument instructor licenses. Mr. van Genk is also rated on turbine Jets as Cessna’s C500.

Nowadays American Flight Training Center is based in Belgium, the Netherlands and France.
The American Flight Training Center is supported by first class flight schools in the U.S. and Belgium, specialized FAA instructors, FAA designated examiners and JAA flying instructors to provide the high standards.
