URP Discipline, KU 4.32

Khulna University is the first to open up planning education in Bangladesh. Since then, Khulna University has played a leading role in the education of planners in the country.

Urban and Rural Planning Discipline is home to planning professionals and development practitioners. It offers academic program at Bachelor's, Master's and PhD level on Urban and Rural Planning. Composed of internationally experienced scholars and practitioners, the discipline's faculty explores the built environment from diverse disciplinary backgrounds and points of view. The department's pedagogically innovative combination of interdisciplinary course curricula, sessional exercises, seminars, and independent study, coupled with a relatively small student size of roughly 37 individuals drawn for each degree program each year, create an intimate, engaged educational atmosphere in which students thrive and learn.

Our students have been showing demonstrated success over public, private and international development agencies across the globe for years. Students entering at Bachelor's level find a lively and interactive environment which coupled with the multidisciplinary education system prevailing in the Discipline leads them to become skilled and motivated practitioners in the govt. accredited planning exercises and welfare based social development sectors in both home and abroad.
