Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College, Bogra 4.23

Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) is a Public (Government) medical college of Bangladesh established in 1992. The college, initially started in the premises of reconstructed MATS and Mohammad Ali Hospital, Bogra has shifted to the newly constructed campus on 31st August 2006 with its well-constructed and well-equipped 500 bedded teaching hospital within the campus.

The college is located in south-western part of the district town, Bogra, just beside the Dhaka-Rangpur national highway, about 80 km from Bangabandhu Jamuna bridge, where it is connected with other highways viz. to Rajshahi, Naogaon and Joypurhat-Hili. With the most convenient roads and railway communications, Bogra stands at the center of Rajshahi division in the map having fluorescent cultural, historical and archaeological heritage. The once mighty river Korotoa, said to have carried the the legendary craft of Behula-Lakshindar, flows through the eastern edge of the town. Mahasthangarh, the oldest archaeological site of Bangladesh is 15 km north of the college and Paharpur Buddhist Monastery is somewhat 50 km to the west.

The campus has become well known for its beautifully designed interior, great architectural view and well-planned residential accommodations. Having Play grounds, gymnasium, mosque, kindergarten school, botanical and floral gardens, the campus have become popular for harmonious inhabitant by the students, teachers and other staffs.

The total floor space in the hospital is 91922.02 sq.m.square meters with capacity of 500 beds (200-300 extra beds). Pre-clinical & Para-clinical disciplines are in College building and clinical disciplines are in Hospital building. Gallery I (Samia Islam Gallery), II & III, IV Tutorial rooms, Dissection Hall, Practical classroom, Laboratories, Museums, Medical Education Unit. Medical Skill Centre, Autopsy Morgue, Seminar Rooms, Library (Air conditioned), Computer Lab, etc are In the college building.

Centre for Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound, Medical central mosque, Sonali Bank, Male and Female student's hostel, Internee hostels, residential building for teachers and staffs, auditorium, Morgue are all in the campus. Just beside this college campus Bogra College of Nursing, with its bigger campus, started
its activity since the year 2010.

Gross eligibility for candidature MBBS course:
Bangladeshi national passed HSC examination within immediate two passed session with total GPA 7.0 (SSC+HSC) with Biology in HSC. Written examinations are MCQ type on the basis of HSC syllabus on Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English and General Knowledge. Answer scripts are examined centrally by OMR machine and final selection are given by DGHS as per merit and quota.

In addition to MBBS course there is also Postgraduate Diploma course in Anaesthesiology. The post-graduate course is approved by The BSMMU Dhaka, Bangladesh. After Completion of 2 years after Graduation (MBBS), Two years of service for government candidate, Govt. candidate who completed another postgraduate degree at least before 2 years, Non-government candidates after 1 year of completing internship, One year training on the respective subject for Diploma degree. Admission Test conducted at least 2 months before commencing the session, MCQ true false completion type on the basic concepts of overall medical science, Answer sheets are examined by OMR machine, Selection is given as per merit and quota (Government 50% Non-Government 50%).
