Programs and Area of Activities

As an NGO, Peace Foundation is implementing various development programs and projects; most of those are with the financial assistance of its development partners/agencies and private sector, while some is exclusively from its own resources. Bangladesh being a poverty stricken country, poverty reduction is the major working area of Peace Foundation However; it also works in other fields of human development.

1. Education:

Peace Foundation has been implementing different education program since 2008 with a view to ensuring literacy, basic education and livelihood skills to the disadvantaged illiterate people. So far, Peace Foundation has imparted basic education to 770 persons of whom 450 are children and the rest 320 are adults.

2. Health, Sanitation and Nutrition:

Among the five basic needs of human being, health is considered as important one. In Bangladesh the rural and urban poor people has very limited access to health services. As such, Peace Foundation is committed to provide health and sanitation services to all of its beneficiaries and the community people in its program areas.

Major intervention of health, nutrition and sanitation program is to increase awareness on health, nutrition, sanitation, hygiene and Prevention of HIV/AIDS of the household members.

3. Drug Addict Prevention:

We are also working on prevention of drug among young people in Satkhira district. We are working on these issues with community based organization (CBO). Peace Foundation is also working on Anti Smoking Campaign etc.

4. STD/HIV/AIDS Prevention:

HIV/AIDS today has become one of the deadly diseases ever faced by mankind. Although prevalence rates are still low in Bangladesh, HIV/AIDS is an emerging public health risk that has the potential of significant negative impact on a broad range of socio-economic development indicators unless steps are taken to control its spread. Recognizing the importance of the issue, Peace Foundation has been intervening in the field since 2012.

Through the advocacy and sensitization of religious leaders, community leaders and policy makers, a general awareness has been created to prevent HIV/AIDS among youths, adolescents and IDUs.

5. Advocacy and Governance:

Of late, Peace Foundation is involved in different program on advocacy, aiming to protect the rights of women and children of the areas. Major objectives of the program are to: (a) ensure proper and effective application of laws that protect the rights of the women and children through stimulating beneficiary’s involvement and (b) aware the stakeholders about the non-discriminatory application of laws that protect the rights of women and children of the program areas.

6. Gender:

Peace Foundation attaches high priority to gender equity and strives to bring about positive and lasting changes in the lives of Bangladeshi women and girls through empowering them to take control of their own lives.

Peace Foundation also provides gender orientation to its beneficiaries (men, women and children including staff members). Peace Foundation actively participates in various forums and campaigns aiming at reducing gender discrimination and violence against women. It also is engaged in advocacy for eliminating gender discriminatory laws, policies and practices.

7. Human Rights & Good Governance:

We are working to ensure human rights at community level. Now we are raising awareness on various human rights issues through group meeting at grassroots level.

8. Rehabilitation of the Persons with Disability:

Peace Foundation has implemented a Disability Rights, Own Fund at Satkhira Sadar upazilla of Satkhira district in Bangladesh. Primary beneficiaries of the action include 20 disabled women of the implementation areas.

9. Climate Change and Environment Promotion:

Climate change in the global context can be attributed to the excessive emission of green house gases into atmosphere that results mostly from the burning of fossil fuel. The resultant build-up of gases in turn causes various kinds of natural disasters in the form of flood, cyclone, salinity, drought, etc. Bangladesh, because of its geographical position, is very prone to these natural hazards. PF worked with local Govt. to the vulnerable girls & women aimed to access socio economic sectors giving social female leaders.

10. Cultural activities & Awareness Raising:

Cultural activities are an important/strong way to raise awareness among community people. Peace Foundation also organize street drama, drama to emphasize local popular theme on different burning issues like, Drug, Family Planning,

11. Trafficking:


Trafficking of children and women is a major problem in Bangladesh. Responding to the problem, Peace Foundation launched a project named “Trafficking prevention campaign” in own fund 2011. Main objective of the project is to implement a comprehensive trafficking prevention campaign by organizing workshops at district and upazila levels, capacity building training, teachers/parents forum meetings, meetings with media, etc. As a result, trafficking of children and women reduced significantly in the project area.
