১৯৬৩ সালে জয়পুরহাট রেলওয়ে স্টেশনের প্লাটফর্মের উত্তর প্রান্তে হনুমান কখ্‌স বাজলার একটি পাটের গুদাম ঘরে প্রথম কলেজ প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয়। ১৯৬৬ সালে বর্তমান রেল স্টেশনের পশ্চিম পার্শ্বে নতুন ভবন নির্মিত হলে, কলেজ স্থানন্তরিত হয়। ১৯৮০ সালে ১ মার্চে কলেজ জাতীয়করণ করা হয়।
কলেজের আয়তন: ৮.৭৭ একর।

Joypurhat Govt. College is the best college of Joypurhat District.
This college is Established at 1963.
The first office room of this college was the Paddy Store room Of "Babu Sohan Lal Bazla" which is now known as Sourav Hotel.
One of the unused store room was used as the class room. The first Education session of this college was 1963-64. The total Student Number of that session was 300.
In 1964 the construction of the college building was started at the land of Sakhidars. The first building is now known as the chemistry building.
This college is built up with the dedication of people of Joypurhat. Especially Abdul Alim, Sakhidars, Sohan Lal Bazla, The sugarcane farmers and many more.
