Comilla always played a significant role in the socio-political-cultural progress of the Indian subcontinent. The city experienced the Shanti-Shunity rebellion; it witnessed the sacrifice of Dhierendranath Datta. Comilla is blessed with the memory of great music maestro Shachin Dev Barman, Ustad Alauddin khan, and visits by poet Kaji Nazrul Islam. Internationally acclaimed institutes like BIRD for rural development through cooperative is also situated in this region! Ancient ruins of Moynamoti Buddhist monastery and Rupban Mura in the outskirts of Comilla city symbolizes the city’s enrichedhistory, placing the greater part of the area in world heritage map.
Comilla Cultural Festival-CCF is essentially a home-grown festival of Bangladesh which emmersed in the international platform by attracting participants from both home and Bangladeshi diaspora across contients! The 3 day long festivity has taken place regularly in the last week of January since 2011.The model thrives to develop a niche cultural festival legacy that is novel yet classic, local yet global- both in terms of content selection, and presentation format. CCF is a wonderful platform for our collective soul searching to be energized from our rich heritage. It is also a great forum to voice our longing for connecting to the cultural treasures of the global humanity! In essence, CCF’s one of the main mission is to promote mutual understanding and appreciation of the best values of the East and West, as envisioned by our own Bissho-kobi (‘Poet of the World’) Rabindranath Tagore!
The main events of the festival have been rallies, seminar, poetry reading, recitals, film shows, theatre, music, exhibition & various workshops for the local creative & professional youths. Local indigenous people from the Tripura community have also participated.
Also, quite a few number of workshop sessions have been conducted in the festival to train the local creative youth. Internationally experienced hands have been contributing in these workshops.
It's through solidarity and liberal attitudes that we achieve our livelihood as much as inspire each others’ core creative potentials! CCF would celebrate the traditions and heritage. At the same time the festivities would carry futuristic messages that would empower generations to come.
