Wagga Motors Pty Ltd was founded on the principle that the public is entitled to the best service possible in satisfying its motoring requirements, and over the 65+ years not much has changed, the current Braid family members pride themselves on offering the best customer service in the industry.

Wagga Motors Pty Ltd has been controlled by the Braid family for some 60 years plus.
In the 1950s the Dealership sold British Vauxhall cars, Bedford Trucks, American Oldsmobile and Pontiac cars and GMC trucks, almost all of which are rare these days.

In January 1956 Wagga Motors South was opened in Baylis Street to give the Dealership more room to display and sell used cars. This site was used very successfully for this sole purpose until sold in 1977.
Jim’s two sons John and Gordon both joined the company during this time.

It was in 1957 when Wagga Motors gained the Holden franchise.

In 1980 it was official, Wagga Motors had become the sole GMH dealer in Wagga Wagga and in so doing also acquired the Isuzu Truck franchise.

The Wagga Motors Dealership certainly hasn’t gone without its disasters. As a result of a fire in December 1982, the Dealership’s Service and Parts building was totally destroyed. However, after this and many other renovations and extensions to the rebuilt Service and Parts Centre, it now houses the latest in tools and equipment.

Upon the death of Jim Braid in 1986, John and Gordon Braid became 50/50 shareholders in Wagga Motors and Joint Managing Directors of this fast growing and reputable local business.

The Dealership as it is today at Dobney Avenue occupies just under five acres and has more than 100 local people on staff and is franchised to sell the full range of Holden products including Isuzu Trucks as well as Honda cars, Mercedes-Benz cars and light commercials. In subsequent times the dealership purchased the Wagga City motor Group dealership, at 77 Dobney Avenue, giving them rights to the sales of Hyundai, Chrysler, Jeep and Isuzu Ute.

On December 26th 2009 Gordon Braid, a man equally regarded with high esteem in the local community as well as nationally within the automotive industry as his father Mr Jim Braid before him, passed away after a 20 month long battle with cancer and his brother John continued to manage his long battle with ill health, until he passed away in 2011. The business management was taken over by their respective sons, Richard and Scott Braid.

Wagga Motors as a Holden dealer under its present management is considered to be one of the biggest 65 years (plus) Dealerships in Australia.
