United Muslims of Australia (UMA) 5.24

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, the pervious census showed that of Muslims subsiding in New South Wales, 49.7% of those were under the age of 25. This statistic is in stark contrast to the general population of New South Wales where only 35.6% were under the age of 25.

The above statistics clearly shows the paramount importance of establishing such a youth focused service to help serve the needs of the increasing number of Muslim youth in Sydney.

Therefore, the goals of the UMA are to establish and provide an Islamic alternative for the youth and to continue working with the broader community for generations to come. This alternative is accomplished by fulfilling and providing services and facilities in all areas required by the youth.

Through our work, we hope to help today's youth to develop into well educated, confident and upstanding members of the Australian community.

At the same time, our goal is to also educate and inform people about Islam, and removing the disastrous misconceptions that have been spread about Islam in the past. Islam teaches us that there is no compulsion in religion, yet it is our duty to inform people about the beauty and perfection of Islam.

Over the years, the UMA youth centre has been an integral part of the Muslim community providing essential services to the Islamic community ranging from social and educational forums to sporting and recreational activities.
