As a ‘think tank’ of collaborative minds, TRI joins the future direction of medical research.

TRI, completed in late 2012, is the largest medical research institute in the southern hemisphere.

Its ‘bench to bedside’ model enables collaborative research where new treatments can be developed and tested by establishing and modelling the genetic and environmental basis of human disease.

The Institute will also encourage translation of potential treatments into clinical practice by providing access to GMP product manufacture and accredited clinical trial facilities.

By ‘Partnering for Better Health’, TRI represents a unique collaboration of our four research partners: The University of Queensland Diamantina Institute (UQDI), Queensland University of Technology Institute of Health and Biomedical Innovation (IBHI), Mater Medical Research Institute (MMRI), and Princess Alexandra Hospital Centres for Health Research (CHR), along with its health partner, DSM Biologics.

TRI is a pinnacle educational facility in the fields of medicine and science, playing host to University of Queensland’s School of Medicine and School of Nursing, and UQDI’s school science education program, SPARQ-ed.

Led by Professor Ian Frazer as CEO and Director of Research, TRI has been made possible via $354 million dollars in funding from Australian and Queensland Governments, The Atlantic Philanthropies, University of Queensland, Queensland University of Technology, and Mater Medical Research Institute.

TRI is the bringing together of the best and brightest minds to exchange ideas and work that ultimately translates to life-changing therapeutics and treatments.
