Nestled in the Wombat State Forest on the Greendale-Trentham Road, the Blackwood Hotel sits on Martin Street in the heart of in the historic gold mining township of Blackwood surrounded by spectacular forest.

The Blackwood was built in 1868, and is the oldest weatherboard pub with a continuous licence.

In years gone by Blackwood was a bustling gold mining town - a regular stop on the Cobb & Co. route - with a population of over 30,000 strong. The place was full of miners - all seeking their fortune in gold.

Today, over a century later, those golden days are gone - Blackwood is now a quiet little town home to just under 400 permanent residents.

Our chefs know how to cook up the classics, create fabulous dishes, and serve up delicious food that will put a smile on your face! Daily changing specials bring a twist to pub fare and include delights like New Orleans Jumbalaya, Fried Cheesecake and more!

Sit in front of a roaring open fire in winter and in summer, relax on the open deck under the shade of an ancient oak tree, looking over the beautiful hills .

We also have comfortable accommodation available so you can stay a little longer to explore Blackwood and its surrounds.
