The History of TAPS Dancewear:

Approximately 23 years ago local dance mum Louise Frodmya bought a box of second hand dance shoes from a local school. Eventually adding a range of dance attire to this box in her garage, Louise began to sell the products to other dance mums from across Canberra. The business grew to such an extent that Louise had to find commercial premises, and thus the store TAPS Dancewear was borne. The first shop front for TAPS was at Cooleman Court in Weston. TAPS then relocated to bigger premises in Homeworld Greenway and with an adjacent fairy castle, the store became the venue for fairy (and pixie) birthday parties. Due to a Government Shop Front being based at Homeworld, TAPS was forced to close down and relocate to Phillip, which sadly brought an end to the wonderful Fairy Castle and the enjoyment it brought to numerous Canberra families.

In 2007 Louise sold TAPS Dancewear to its current owner, Miss Terry O’Connor. In 2011 Terry made the decision to relocate TAPS to The Erindale Shopping Centre. Terry was thrilled to realise how close the Erindale Theatre was to the shop where so many local dance school stage their annual competitions and concerts.
