RMIT Electric Racing is a team of university students that design, manufacture, assemble, test and race an electric-powered, sustainable, open-wheel race car. The car is then presented and demonstrated at Formula SAE Australasia in high intensity dynamic races and team presentation events.
RMIT is committed to a sustainable future; in 2008, RMIT Electric Racing created the world's first ever all-electric Formula SAE vehicle. This first attempt at an electric vehicle was an exercise in curiosity which saw our students modify an older generation petrol vehicle to run on electric power.
RMIT Electric Racing is currently in the process of designing and building its tenth electric vehicle: R18e
