RHINO is the official student rural health club of James Cook University across its three main campuses of Townsville, Cairns and Mackay within North Queensland. RHINO was founded in August 2000, with the aim to promote rural health issues and opportunities within the health disciplines of the university – medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology and many more.

RHINO provides many rewarding activities for its members that are both fun and educational. These include trips away to rural locations around Northern Queensland, guest speakers from around Australia and the world, skills nights, social events, conference attendance and heaps more!

With an ever increasing number of students and their growing interest in rural health, RHINO keeps expanding. In 2009, RHINO extended to the Cairns campus of James Cook University and in 2013 RHINO extended to the Mackay campus.

In 2016, CQU officially joined Club RHINO and we anticipate a bright future ahead for both university members!
