North Geelong Secondary College 3.49

The College is located in the Northern suburbs of the City of Greater Geelong. It was initially established in 1966 at Lunan House in Drumcondra. It moved to its current site in Separation Street North Geelong in 1968. The majority of the student enrolment is drawn from the northern suburbs of Geelong. However, in the last three years the school has experienced a large increase in numbers of students from the Golden Plains (Bannockburn, Lethbridge, Teesdale, Inverleigh).

North Geelong Secondary College is a single campus co-educational 7-12 school. It provides a high quality education in a safe, supportive and challenging learning and teaching environment. A real highlight of the school is its innovative programs designed to address student individual needs. Specialist programs such as; Student Leadership, Select Entry Academic Achievers, Scholarships (Academic Excellence, Student Leadership, Community/Good Citizenship, Arts and Sporting Excellence), 7 to 12 iPad, Excellence in Sports, VCE Tutorials, The STAR and ACE Literacy & Numeracy and Homework, define how well we have adapted to modern changes in education and the growing challenges of cutting edge pedagogical programs.

The school’s high expectations (student, parents & staff) reflect community expectations and standards. Students and learning are central to our vision and what we do, and this is motivated by the recognition that our knowledge of learning and the child is not static but constantly evolving.

The greatest resource North Geelong Secondary College has is our people; students, parents and staff. School morale is very high and staff members are fully committed to our students and our College. Students and parents, through the annual opinion surveys, indicate that they perceive the school to be a very supportive and very safe community.

We believe in our students and have very high expectations of them. We support them in the pursuit of academic excellence, TAFE, Apprenticeships or full time sustainable employment and in the development of a belief in self-worth, acceptance of others and a strong sense of community.
