The Modified Rugby Program (MRP) – Creating belonging and success

The Modified Rugby Program (MRP) is an opportunity for children who learn and perceive differently and their families to belong in the inspiring junior rugby community.

At its core, the aim of the MRP is to help our children regularly experience success in line with their own development.

So often, families like ours whose children learn and perceive differently are constantly told everything that our children cannot do.

The MRP is all about showing our children what they can do and how much they can achieve when we support and believe in them.

The 2012 World Report on Disability recommends that communities ‘promote the inclusion and participation of disabled people in their community’ by reducing the participation restrictions that exist within current community activities.

In line with these recommendations, the MRP has been structured to be part of the existing junior rugby community with appropriate modifications rather than creating a new framework outside the established club structure.
